Over three sessions (26 June, 3 July and 17 July, 5.30pm-8.30pm) create stunning jewellery using the age-old lost wax technique. This is an excellent opportunity for a best friends' outing or a self-care date with yourself! In the first and second session, you'll learn how to work with jeweller's soft wax to create impressions of natural textures and creatures like seashells, leaves and feathers. We can also use moulds created using Fimo, and press soft wax into them, which will result in amazing pieces!
Then there’s a week's break before the third session, to allow time for everyone's waxes to be cast. The third session covers how to trim, clean and finish your casts, turning them into original jewellery ready to wear!
More advanced students can use these sessions to complete projects in a class setting.
Included in the class fee are all your different types of waxes, sandpaper and courier costs.
Not included are the casting and metal costs which vary from student to student depending on what sized piece they want to make and the type of metal they choose. Small castings typically cost around $6.65–$12, with metal costs ranging from approximately $7 to $30, depending on whether you use brass, bronze, or silver.
This class is great for young people over the age of 12 or so, anyone under 16 must be accompanied by an enrolled parent or caregiver.
Course fee $256, Early bird $230 till 1 June.
