The Act of Remembrance has historically been held in All Saints’ Churchyard, around the war memorial. This year it will continue with the tradition of a parade, first introduced in 2018 and reinstated in 2023.
The route results in some safety issues for the Parish to consider, but as the War Memorial is situated in the corner of the Churchyard, on a busy junction, there is no alternative route.
A road closure has been granted by Cambridgeshire County Council and will be managed by Phoenix Events (East) Ltd. Appropriate signage will be displayed and a risk assessment has been carried out.
Local organisations and members of the public will parade from the Village Green, at Nelson Crescent, and make its way to All Saints’ Church along the High Street.
Participants are to assemble from 10.00 and depart the Village Green at 10.30. Arrival at All Saints’ Church is anticipated to be at or just before 10.45. It is hoped that as many people will attend as possible.
The road closure will begin from 9.00 and as the parade moves along the High Street, the road will gradually re-open. The junction at All Saints’ Church will remain closed until all parade participants have cleared the highway. We appreciate this closure may cause some disruption to travel arrangements. We do however stress that the closure is only temporary and is necessary to provide a safe environment for those participating in Remembrance activities.
The act of remembrance is anticipated to follow at approximately 10.50, after which All Saints’ Church Service will commence.
The following roads are affected by the temporary closure:
High Street, Brookside, Prentice Close, Drakes Court, Hattons Park, Hattons Road, Haddows Close, The Dale, Fairview, Rectory Close, School Lane/High Street Junction.
