Longer Tables: London Screening
Join us for a special screening of Longer Tables at ArtHouse Crouch End!
Longer Tables is a new documentary centred around Sustenance, a community kitchen and food bank based in Hastings, and its mission to build ‘longer tables’, not higher walls.
The short documentary follows a group of Sustenance volunteers as they prepare produce bags and the weekly three-course community meal, offering a first hand account of the fight against food poverty in a historically economically deprived coastal town. The film interviews a wide range of volunteers from ex-civil servants and full time carers to recently arrived asylum seekers, all of whom are dedicated to building and serving the local community.
Longer Tables showcases the positive impact that a community-led social project like Sustenance provides for people in communities left behind by the state.
