The London Piano Meetup Group's friends at Steinway Hall have generously allowed us to use their performance space with a Steinway model D (9 ft concert grand) for the afternoon. If you're an adult amateur pianist, join us to play or listen to an afternoon of shared music making in a friendly, informal environment, on a full size concert instrument. A real treat!
Time limit for performers: 7 minutes
Performing slots available: 14
Admission is through pre-booked tickets only, and the ticketing link will close 24 hours before the event, so make sure you reserve your spot in time.
The performance space at Steinway Hall is at the back of the showroom - when you arrive, mention that you are there for the London Piano Meetup Group hosted by Rob Foster and head straight on in. There is no food or drink (except water) allowed in the performance space, and please be respectful of customers looking to try out and purchase pianos in the shop.
The London Piano Meetup Group provides a friendly, supportive environment in which to air full pieces, parts of pieces, ‘works-in-progress’, improvisations, own compositions - anything piano related! Instrumentalists with piano accompaniment are also welcome - to arrange any ensembles or accompanists, please go to the group's facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/groups/LondonPMG) and post a message there.
All standards of player (beginners to advanced) are most welcome, especially those who have not attended one of our events before. Nerves when playing in front of other people are normal, regardless of how advanced you are or how long you have been playing, and everyone appreciates the challenges of performing in front of others - there is absolutely no judgement or competitive aspect at LPMG events, only mutual support from fellow performers and audience members. After playing for each other we will head to a local pub/bar to socialise and talk pianos over a beverage or two.
There are also plenty of spaces for friends/relatives to come and watch too - or also pianists who just don't want to get up and perform.
To be added to the mailing list to be alerted to future events as soon as they are announced, please contact the organisers at [email protected]
