Join us as we bring you the essence of Brazilian culture and the vibrant rhythms of samba reggae allowing you to "drink from the fountain" and strengthen your connection as part of the worldwide samba reggae family.
Ilê Aiyê is the first Afro block in Brazil.
Created in 1974 in the Liberdade neighbourhood in Salvador it established itself as a center of protest against racism spreading a positive system of representation of black people and praising the African roots of national culture.The bloco produces his art with music dance illustration and clothing and develops in parallel pedagogical extension projects.
As part of Ilê Aiyês 50 years anniversary tour MAMA Sound in partnership with Gandaia Arts & Music4Children brings to London the opportunity to experience the culture of Afro Samba/Samba reggae directly from its legendary artists such as Marivaldo Paim (Musical director) & 2024's Ebony Goddess Larissa Valéria amongst other Ilê artists running the outreach sessions.
