About this Event
This guided walking tour through the Walworth area will explore the everyday spaces that hold the communities together, and the organisations and networks that are vital to local life. We will walk around key social infrastructure anchors, discussing their histories and role in fostering belonging in an area undergoing transformation. The tour offers a chance to see neighbourhood change through a different lens, celebrating community relationships that outlast the buildings. We will return to discuss Social Life’s work around belonging and neighbourhood change. A visual pamphlet signposting local activities and organisations will be distributed post-event.
Light refreshments, including crisps, biscuits, fruit, water, and juice, will be provided. We will not be serving items containing nuts, gluten-free and dairy free options will be available. Allergen information will be displayed alongside each item.
For specific dietary requirements, please contact us in advance at [email protected] so we can try to accommodate your needs. If you have any questions about allergens or dietary requirements on the day, please speak to a member of the Social Life staff.
We have carried out an accessibility assessment of the walking route to ensure it provides step-free access, wide paths, and resting spots. The walking tour itself is wheelchair accessible and accessible toilet facilities are available at our office. The route is 1.3 miles or 2 kilometers and will take just over a half an hour to walk. We will stop at 4 locations for a break and to have a discussion. The total walk is expected to take 1 hour and 10 minutes.
The final discussion and presentation will take place in our office space, which is not wheelchair accessible due to no step-free access. This presentation is optional so that those unable to access the space are not excluded from the tour itself.
Multiple guides will be present on the day to accommodate different speeds and needs. If you have specific accessibility requirements or questions, please contact us in advance at [email protected] or on 0207 703 9630 so we can do our best to accommodate you.
To ensure safe guarding, we can only accommodate 30 guests. If you are unable to attend the walk, please return your ticket via Eventbrite so that the space can be offered to others.
