Muskogee Fire Fighters Local 57 is hosting its annual Easter Egg Hunt on April 4 at Spaulding Park. This event is a tradition of our union that is paid for by donations from local vendors and from our own pockets.Itβs an event we look forward to every year, and it dates back many decades. Joe Hull, one of our oldest living retirees, who will be 93 this May, was hired in 1960 and tells us this event was going on well before his hiring. He went on to talk about how the firemen used to take the time to boil and dye the eggs before the introduction of the candy filled plastic ones used today. We all appreciate Joe and his sharp memory. His stories of times gone by and old school firefighting are always welcomed with open ears and a big smile.
Come join us and be part of the tradition we enjoy putting on for our community. If you have any stories about how this may have impacted you as a child or your children, please share them below. Weβd love to hear from you!
