About this Event
Liza Fior, muf architecture/art: More Than One Thing at a Time - Designing Public and Communal Spaces in Hackney
Wednesday 18th March 2026, 7:00pm
Liza Fior is a founding partner of muf architecture/art which has been established in Hackney since 1995. The practice specialises in creating high quality and sustainable urban spaces and is the only UK winner of the European Prize for Public Space.
The Financial Times architecture critic, Edwin Heathcote, has written of muf: "Their advocacy for the benefits of public space is critical in an increasingly unequal city, a message that is both profoundly political and utterly necessary. The group is making space for the city to be able to hold on to its humanity, without which it is no longer a city."
Liza's credits in Hackney include the original conception for the Dalston Eastern Curve Garden, Gillett Square, King's Crescent, Tower Court in Stamford Hill and Hackney Town Hall Square which is nearing completion. She will discuss and illustrate her work in Hackney over 30 years. We’re looking forward to a good conversation!
Meet at Dalston Eastern Curve Garden, 13 Dalston Lane, E8 3DF for a 7pm start. The event will finish by 9:00pm.
PLEASE NOTE. The event starts at 7pm but the Garden will be open beforehand. Marie Murray will lead a walk around the garden at 6 pm for anyone who would like to enjoy the wonderful display of spring bulbs in the gloaming. The bar will be open through the evening and all proceeds help to keep the garden open.
