About this Event
In 2024, the UK government ratified the 2003 UNESCO Convention for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage. Intangible Cultural Heritage - also referred to as living heritage - is cultural heritage which is living and actively practised by communities. It can include performances, sports and games, food and drink, crafts, beliefs, seasonal practices and many other forms.
Abertay Historical Society and Dundee Libraries' Local History Centre invite you to join us for an introduction to living culture and folk culture in Dundee, Angus and the wider Abertay area, and an informal discussion led by Erin Farley and Matthew Jarron about which local practices and traditions should be included on the UNESCO Register of Living Heritage.
