Celebrating Earth Month: Japanese Botanical Art at 1 Hotel Central Park

Join us at , a leader in environmentally conscious hospitality, as we honor the beauty of our planet and our shared commitment to mindful living.
We invite you to a hands-on workshop where you’ll learn to create your own traditional Japanese moss ball, known as kokedama (苔玉)—a natural and sculptural way to display plants. These charming, moss-wrapped forms can be hung, suspended, or placed in your favorite space, bringing a sense of calm and greenery into any environment.

In this workshop, you will:
-Make two Kokedama to take home
-Learn how to choose suitable plants
-Understand the basics of Kokedama care and stylingThe session will be guided by KinKa co-creator EunYoung Sebazco, a horticulturalist and floral designer with deep knowledge of plant care and Japanese botanical traditions.

About the artist

EunYoung Sebazco | Horticulturalist, Floral Designer, & Artist

As the co-founder of , EunYoung Sebazco brings a contemplative approach to Japanese botanical traditions, defined by a philosophy of "slowness"—prioritizing emotional connection and the soulful character of plants over mere visual perfection.

A graduate of Tokyo University of Agriculture and the NY Botanical Garden, EunYoung spent 16 years beautifying NYC’s public parks. A featured designer at the 2022 Philadelphia Flower Show, she has spent a decade teaching kokedama, blending native plant ecology with the soulful art of Japanese botanical traditions.
