About this Event
What is Little Look Club?
Little Look Club is a fun, relaxed art-looking session for children. Each session invites children and families to explore artworks through conversation, imagination and having fun! There are no right or wrong answers – everyone is encouraged to notice details, share ideas and listen to others.
Together, we look closely at a handful of artworks on display in the Hunterian Art Gallery, and talk about what we see. Our facilitators guide the discussion using simple, open questions that help children build confidence, curiosity and independent thinking.
No art knowledge is required – just bring your curiosity! These sessions are ideal for families who want to slow down, enjoy art together and spark creative conversations.
Little Look Club is free to attend, open to all primary‑aged children with an accompanying adult and refreshments are provided.
The Approach
A specific approach to looking at art, known as Visual Thinking Strategies (VTS), was co developed by Abigail Housen, Harvard Cognitive Psychologist, and Philip Yenawine, Director of Education at MOMA between the years of 1988-199.
This method is initiated by facilitated discussions of art images and jumpstarts a process of learning to think deeply. It enhances and encourages thinking skills, provides oral and written language literacy, visual literacy and collaborative interactions among peers.
