The Buell Children’s Museum brings you a lab worthy of little hands discovering the world! Completely safe! no mess! experiments in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math.
Little Experiments & Big Discoveries is designed for both independent exploration and family participation with hands on experiments made for hands of all sizes. Exposure to big ideas in tiny confidence building experiences helps young minds feel capable of greater understanding. At the Buell, adults visiting with young folks are heroes, so we give you all the answers so you can provide the Why(?)s! We’ve even found take-home resources to keep you going!
Explore how electricity moves through living tissue. Make your own Hologram using mirrors and digital technology. Create balance that little hands can see and feel with our silly and serious scales. Design, build and test your own paper airplanes and loop de loops. Compare how they move and how far they fly. Make your own stop motion movies using your phone and our specially made creatures. Print your own sticker or family picture using heat sensitive printers. Explore color mixing with light and pigment. Test flight weights with our mini wind tunnel. Build your own dinosaur with dino-blocks. Create a working pulley system with Rigamajig. Use our collection of Legos to build anything you can imagine from both vertical and horizontal work stations and so much more!
Painting, beading, drawing, and many other mediums are available in the Artrageous exhibit. Check out our rotating mini exhibit in the entry hall. Hang out in the new Under the Sea Exhibit in the Kaleidoscope Gallery. Begin business and social skill building while playing in the Buell Village. Find famous birthdays. Don’t forget to say "hi" to the fish family in our hydroponic exhibit.
