Literature and Human Rights: An Evening with Selma Dabbagh and Behrouz Boochani, with music by Ahmed Hawwash (Faculty of Arts, KU Leuven, in collaboration with PEN Vlaanderen).Writers and human rights advocates Selma Dabbagh and Behrouz Boochani discuss how literature and other forms of writing can respond to today’s global human-rights challenges.
Drawing on their work as novelists, journalists, and outspoken public voices, they will discuss the power of storytelling in debates on refugee rights and on the violations of human rights in Kurdistan and Israel/Palestine.
Both authors will read from their work and engage in conversation with each other and the audience. With musical intermezzos by Palestinian clarinetist and composer Ahmed Hawwash.
