About this Event
This lively and entertaining brunch will celebrate literature and music in South Carolina in a program that mixes music and words. The program will feature readings focusing on writers promoted by Linda Ketron’s Moveable Feast and published by her CLASS Press. Readings will be intermingled with jazz performances of songs associated with SC musicians briefly introduced by Dr. Ben Franklin (author of An Encyclopedia of South Carolina Jazz and Blues Musicians) and performed by a jazz quintet led by Mark Rapp, founder of ColaJazz. Readers will be Susan Middleton, O’Neal Smalls, C. E. “Chip” Smith, Lee Brockington, Dan Turner, and Libby Bernadin.
Linda Ketron, the 2025 honoree, has hosted weekly author luncheons for 28 years as director of the Pawleys Island Moveable Feast. Her Class Publishing Division has published more than 60 books. For 11 years she was Director of the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI) at Coastal Carolina University.
Founded in 1986 at Anderson University (then Anderson College), the South Carolina Academy of Authors' principal purpose is to identify and recognize the state’s distinguished writers and promote their literature’s influence on our cultural heritage. The late Frances Mims, an English professor at Anderson College, and the late Paul Talmadge, a vice president and academic dean at Anderson College, established the academy together. The SCAA’s literary advocacy award honors them.
