About this Event
Project Based Learning (PBL) makes learning come alive for students. PBL is a teaching method in which students learn by actively engaging in real-world questions and personally meaningful projects. Workshop participants will explore the PBL technique, age appropriate lesson plans, and discuss various opportunities to incorporate literacy, math, and cultural awareness activities in any project.
Learning Objectives:
-Participants will be able to define what PBL is, how it is student driven, how it differs from "doing a project", and 21st Century Skills that PBL promotes
-Participants will work through examples of how to design, implement, and evaluate a PBL lesson plan. Participants will learn to incorporate specific activities into the lesson plan to build math and literacy skills.
-Participants will discuss the important role that student self reflection and individual experiences play in PBL activities and learn how PBL lessons can promote cultural awareness.
