Listening to the Blue: A Hathai of Shared MemoryAs part of the Voices of Blue programming, we invite residents of Jodhpur and our young learners to gather in a traditional hathai space, where conversations flow like water in an old well.In the weeks leading up to the Art Week, we will record stories from homes across the blue city—narratives of rituals, water, memory, and quiet transformations.
From these stories, we will draw three central inquiry points, questions that we will paint across the walls of the city, not for answers, but to create thought trails. These questions will lead us to a public hathai session. With a circle of elders, students, and visitors, we will listen to parts of the collected stories, respond to them with poems, reflections, and open-hearted discussion. Together, we will not only archive what the city remembers but imagine what it still could be.The session concludes with a symbolic collective act, each participant tying a thread on a shared tapestry map of the blue city, weaving their memory into the city& future.
