Liquid Grace is a high-energy studio workshop focused on the technical and artistic marriage of a professional dancer with water. This session moves beyond standard portraits, teaching you how to use water as a dynamic prop to create high-end imagery.The Elements of Water
In this workshop, we explore different ways water interacts with light and movement:
* The Power of Splashes: Using a shallow pool, we will capture the explosive, frozen energy of water as the dancer moves
* The Atmosphere of Mist: We will use fine-particle mist to catch backlighting, creating a "halo" effect around the subject.
* The Symmetry of Reflections: Shooting at low angles against the surface of the pool, you can create reflections that increase the visual impact of the pose.
Technical Focus
* Action Freezing: Mastering strobe duration vs. shutter speed to lock water droplets in mid-air with surgical sharpness.
* Backlighting & Rim Lighting: Positioning lights to cut through the mist and define the dancer’s silhouette against dark backgrounds.
* Low-Profile Composition: Practical techniques for shooting at water level to maximize the reflective surface of the shallow pool.
* Gear Safety: Pro-tips on managing a wet studio environment safely.
