About this Event
Looking to take your printmaking skills to the next level? Join Lino Printing: Reductive Printing, a hands-on workshop in Toronto designed for artists, hobbyists, and anyone ready to expand their art practice.
Reductive printing is a unique process where a single block of linoleum is progressively carved away between each colour layer, resulting in a stunning multi-colour print. In this workshop, you’ll learn step-by-step how to plan your design, select colour palettes, and print multiples while mastering this advanced technique.
Building on the basics from Lino Printing 1, you’ll dive deeper into:
- The reductive carving and printing process
- Colour layering and registration
- Producing a small edition of archival prints
By the end of this 4-hour workshop, you’ll leave with a carved lino block and a mini edition of your own original multi-layered prints, plus the confidence and knowledge to continue exploring printmaking on your own. Along the way, you’ll connect with fellow creatives, experiment with colour and design, and have fun developing new maker skills.
Hosted in the iconic , a historic arts hub in downtown Toronto, this inspiring location is the perfect backdrop to spark imagination and creative flow. It’s also a great place to explore before class, with artist-run galleries and cultural spaces all under one roof.
Experience Level:This class is intended for those who have completed Lino Printing 1 or have prior experience carving lino blocks (such as stamp making or beginner printmaking).
Workshop Length:4 hours
