About this Event
‘Lines Of Flight’ is a collaboration between Jasmina Bolfek-Radovani and Martin Delaney. It began in 2022 as Martin Delaney’s experiment in creating music through randomisation and has expanded to include lines of multilingual poetry (English, French and Croatian) and vocal performance by Jasmina, with additional contributions from multi-instrumentalist Clive Bell.
A line of flight (French: ligne de fuite) is a concept developed by Gilles Deleuze and Félix Guattari. In an artistic sense, it can be understood as a rupture — a break from the “grid”. A melody that turns unexpectedly, or a poem that stutters between languages, can be heard as “taking flight” from its original form.
