Information
Evanston-based singer-songwriter Lindsay Anderson returns to SPACE Evanston to present her newest album Forgiving. She is best known for her work with the critically acclaimed dream pop group LAltra. Her performances have reached audiences around the globe, and her talentsvoice, lyrics, and instrumentationhave contributed to a wide array of collaborations with artists such as Telefon Tel Aviv (Ghostly, Hefty), Wrekmeister Harmonies (Thrill Jockey), Edith Frost (Drag City) and others. Andersons music is often described as ethereal and spiritually charged sonic dreamscapes shaped by Wurlitzer, Rhodes, piano, synths, and echoing vocals and guitar. Andersons genre-blurring compositions move from dream pop to experimental to rock, always through an autobiographical lens. Her storytelling invites listeners into intimate reflections on identity and connection spaces for solace, healing, and transformation. Her newest work Forgiving is a 12-song conceptual journey inspired by the romantic and artistic entanglement of surrealist painters Leonora Carrington and Max Ernst. Moved by Carringtons autobiographical text Down Below, Anderson delves into themes of love, artistic identity, power dynamics, and feminine self-reclamation. Drawing parallels between her own experiences as an artist and muse, Anderson reflects on the challenges of defining ones voice within male-dominated creative spaces. Her songs become a medium for reclaiming that voicefusing autobiography with myth, dream logic, and archetypal storytelling._____________Well-loved for passionately supporting other artists as a drummer and producer in the indie and folk scene for over 20 years, Darren Garvey sings with the rhythmic clarity of a percussionist and drums with the precision of a poet. His expressive and inventive style has been utilized by a myriad of artists and bands from his Chicago start to his adoption into the Colorado music scene. Multi-instrumentalist Garvey remains a longtime member of Elephant Revival and currently calls Milwaukee home. The title track on his solo album As A Scribble (2025) evokes the wonder of childs play and the messiness of life. For Darren, songs come from somewhere an instrument, the confluence of two rivers, a scribble in his daughters notebook. As A Scribble utilizes his longtime musical collaborator and Midwest guitar legend, the late Dan McMahon. As two seasoned sidemen, Darren and Dan always pushed each other to release their own music as showcased on the split EP Social Distance (2020).
