Life is a Queer Cabaret: a night of musical theatre & queer joy

Join us for a cabaret of performers challenging the typical gender roles of musical theatre pieces. Don't miss this sellout event!
About this Event

Without changing anything in the text itself (pronouns, description, action, etc), how does an identity change the way an audience engages with a character? What does it mean for Cabaret's Emcee to be played by a woman? For Jack Kelly to be queer? For Audrey or Seymour to be played by trans actors?

Identities hold significance, and with a backlog of many cis, often straight or straight-assumed characters, there is value in exploring and changing the narrative of musical theatre works. Whether it be for a nuanced dramatic effect or a comedic one, we want to see musical theatre gender-fuckery (and beyond) at play!

FEATURING: Essential Invisible, Wesley Beyers, Makenna Van Raalte, Felicia Hinojosa , Michael Davis Arnold, Gina Saglimbeni , Emely Cuestas, Jacque Bischoff, Reva Sangal, Cas Lam & Rogelio Castro.
