Life Drawing at The Chapel with Love Your Home

Set within a beautifully restored 19th-century chapel showroom, you’ll relax on a bespoke Love Your Home sofa with a pencil and drink in hand, seated beside a striking stained-glass window. You’ll be guided through a series of expressive drawing exercises designed to loosen up your mind and get your creative muscles flexing, taking inspiration from one of London’s premier life models. This is life drawing, but not as you know it!

With 15 years of experience cultivating his unique approach to teaching and working with institutions such as The Wallace Collection, Village Underground, Soho House & Sothebys, Dan Whiteson's classes offer a dynamic, informal approach and a focus on experimentation and creative freedom not found elsewhere. This fully tutored class is suitable for anyone from beginners to those looking to shake up more a more established practise, and with all materials provided, all you need to bring is yourself & an open mind.

Learn to embrace risk, to feel the benefit of stepping outside of your comfort zone and to make work inspired by observation but ultimately shaped by your own artistic impulses all with drink in hand (each ticket includes a free welcome drink on arrival)!

*PLEASE NOTE* Doors open from 6.30pm where guests are very welcome to browse the showroom before the class begins. Drawing starts promptly at 7.30pm, so please arrive by 7.20pm at the latest to collect your materials and ensure we can begin on time. The class takes place in a furniture showroom, so we will only be using suitable materials for the space i.e. pencils (grayscale & colour) & graphite sticks. Please do not bring any materials that may cause stains or mess with you - thank you!

I know that this is a very difficult period for many, and never want cost to be a barrier to the arts, so please feel free to contact me directly for concessionary rates if money is tight.

Info: The first half of the evening is 'fully tutored', but not in the traditional sense. Instead we will focus on dynamic & expressive exercises designed to challenge our preconceptions & instinctive responses. Expect lots of quick gestural poses & lots of talk about the psychology of creativity!

Info: A chance to decompress, get some feedback or refresh your glass!

Info: The second half is usually split into two exercises: one longer form experimental exercise inspired by a specific artistic practise or movement, and then one, long untutored pose to finish.
