About this Event
DRAW & SWAY
This daytime Special Edition offers parents the chance to return to life drawing at a stage when evenings are often out of reach. It is a welcoming space to draw and observe. Care is naturally part of the room.
The session runs over a two-hour window. It is lightly led. The session has a set start time. Late arrival is fine if needed. Early departure is also fine. Short to medium poses change throughout. A short break midway through the session offers time to pause and reset.
The model is partially clothed to reflect the mixed-age setting. The session works best for babies and young children who remain close to their parent.
The room stays relaxed and social. There is space to draw. There is space to pause. There is space to move about. Quiet conversation is welcome.
ALL LEVELS WELCOME, NO EXPERIENCE NEEDED
Materials: All drawing materials for the session are included
*Tickets can be cancelled or transferred up to 24 hours before the session. This allows us to plan materials and model costs. After this point, tickets are non-refundable.
Anik Life Drawing — Special Editions
Most sessions centre on drawing from the figure. Each edition introduces a particular way of working, which may shape how the session is structured. Depending on the theme, some sessions may also include other forms of drawing or sensory-led exercises alongside figure work.
The sessions are informed by Erica Smith Ramos’ practice, which includes drawing, painting and photography, with a background in graphic design, alongside over 18 years of experience as a life model. Experience on both sides of life drawing, observing and being observed, has shaped an understanding of life drawing as a therapeutic practice grounded in attention and presence.
Each edition works around a simple ‘food for thought’. Depending on the session, this may take different forms.
Themes may include:
- technical focuses (such as line, weight, proportion or composition)
- process-led or experimental approaches
- conceptual or philosophical ideas
- perspectives informed by wellbeing
- ways of thinking about how we relate to the body, to drawing and to attention
All while remaining grounded in life drawing as a regular practice.
The sessions are guided but open. There is structure for those who want it and space for those who prefer to work independently.
All levels are welcome. No experience is needed, whether you are new to life drawing, returning to it, or simply want a place to draw.
