South Park Street Cemetery is 250 years old. Most people who come here look at the inscriptions, the architecture, the names carved into stone. This walk looks at everything else. Let's walk through this place in search of old trees, vanished wetlands, and the mosses and lichens that have been quietly taking these 250-year-old structures apart — one millimetre at a time. Beneath your feet, the ground still behaves like the wetland it once was. On every tomb surface, a slow ecological drama has been unfolding since the day the mason put down his tools. In the corners, in the cracks, along the broken brick pathways — life is doing what it always does. Reclaiming. This is not a heritage walk. There are excellent ones for that. This is something different — believed to be the first walk of its kind in India. An ecological reading of a historic urban site, led by a field ecologist, in one of the oldest cemeteries in the country. Come with curiosity. Leave with a permanently different way of looking at any old wall, any patch of cracked ground, any surface most people walk past without a second glance.
