About this Event

LIBRARIAN NOTE: Eventbrite sign ups are being used to estimate how many chairs we need to bring into the department for this event, not to guarantee your spot. If you think the event sounds like a fun time, get a ticket! There's no sign in at the event, you can just arrive if/when you have the time.

New club alert! The Music Department has started a club for folks to listen to and discuss vinyl records! We welcome music lovers of all levels, whether you are brand new to vinyl records or an old hat at crate digging.

We will be meeting on last Wednesdays of the month, in the Music Department, from 5:30-7:30 p.m. You can both bring your own records from home, or we can have a librarian-led listening journey through the library's vinyl collection. You are responsible for your own vinyl. For this special edition of club, listeners of all ages are welcome!

We have a co-host this month: Julian Booker (he/him), WRTI's Associate Program Director for Jazz, and host for Jazz programs and .

About WRTI: is a member-supported, non-commercial radio station for classical music and jazz serving Greater Philadelphia, PA, NJ, and DE. WRTI champions music as a vital cultural resource through discovery, curation, performance, community, preservation, and education. In conjunction with , Library Mixtape and WRTI present a two-hour vinyl listening session focused on the rich history of jazz in Philadelphia. Most albums are part of the Music Department’s Reference Vinyl Collection, curated by Julian. Selections will include "" artists like Billie Holiday, Lee Morgan, Shirley Scott, Sun Ra, and many more. Attendees are encouraged to bring their own records to be considered for inclusion in the second half of the listening session. All are invited to this free event!
