About this Event
What
A 20-hour professional development series in the practice of anti-oppression skills applied through Coaching for Change and Appreciative Inquiry in Action, facilitated by the esteemed Dr. Leticia Nieto.
This series is designed for professionals across sectors who are committed to leading change within systems. It equips participants with both theoretical grounding and practical tools to foster liberatory change within organizations, schools, and communities.
The integration of:
- Appreciative Inquiry
brings together powerful tools to deepen understanding and practice in anti-oppression and cultural humility. This series is a transformative opportunity for those deeply engaged in the work of equity building, culture transformation, and liberatory practices.
Key Highlights:
Focus on Appreciative Inquiry:
Participants will explore "peak moments" of vitality and excellence as seeds for crafting futures grounded in strengths and resilience.
The structured six-phase Appreciative Inquiry approach (Define, Discover, Dream, Design, Deliver, Debrief) will provide a clear framework for practice and reflection.
Centering Marginalized Voices:
The intentional centering of historically marginalized perspectives ensures a deeply equitable space for learning and growth.
Cultural humility and a commitment to decolonization, feminist/trans-valuing approaches, and intersectional liberation will drive discussions and practices.
Experiential and Relational Methods:
Psychodrama, journaling, and relational sanctuary practices offer hands-on learning experiences.
The emphasis on action-to-encounter rather than large-group discussion fosters depth and active engagement.
Practical Application:
Participants will engage in individual and group coaching, facilitation, and skills practice.
Opportunities for peer connection outside formal sessions encourage collaboration and applied learning.
Why
In these complex times, appreciative approaches provide a direct pathway to positive futures built on the foundation of our reliable past. By focusing on what works and committing to relational “calling in” practices, participants will craft efficient, transformative, and liberatory ways of working that amplify equity and inclusion.
