About this Event
Join Lewis Buxton for an evening of poetry and spoken word. Blending poetry, comedy and story telling, Buxton explores all the different types of boy you can be – tender, awful, thoughtful, vulnerable. Here, a maelstrom of mental health, male bodies, and sexuality is laid bare with wit and curiosity, and the complexity and multiplicity of gender itself is revealed. These poems are provocative, nuanced and often laugh-out-loud funny, shining with a naked, shameless brilliance.
Jess Murrain, author of 'One Woman-Horse Show' will be the support act. Jess is a theatre-maker, actor and co-founder of Theatre with Legs- an experimental theatre company.
'Buxton is a performer in full control of his craft, combining the confidence of an arena comedian with the sensitivity of a poet.'
- Eastern Daily Press
‘Poems that capture the rugby scrum of insight and uncertainty, the questions and discoveries I remember and still live. It pulled me in and showed me it’s birth marks. Loved it.’
- Steven Camden (Polarbear)
