We are proud to kick off our 2026 season with this late afternoon of live theatre and groovy music!Following the template created by actor Benedict Cumberbatch in 2014 and since recreated on stages around the world, local denizens Paul Drescher, Lee Ann Gray, Susy Fleisher, Elaine Johnson and Kevin Keelan will read memorable letters written throughout history by the famous, infamous and unknown- ranging from the riotously funny to the deeply moving. Former Santa Cruz letter carrier Jimmy Kelly opens the show with some thoughts and a pertinent song. This festive event is capped by a musical performance from classically-trained pianist Ned Robinson, who will serenade us during the convivial garden party that follows.
Though admission is free, the event is a fundraiser to replenish the Performer's Fund we use to bring fine talent to the CAYUGA STAGE, so all donations are welcome, needed and deeply appreciated. (We also accept cars, homes, and firstborn children.)
Some beverages will be provided, but you are encouraged to pack the perfect picnic, and any libations that tickle your palate. We can make the venue wheelchair accessible, but only with advance notice, so please inform us of any special mobility needs. As this is a private residence, we know you will treat it with the respect it deserves, so we can continue to bring live performances to the Seabright neighborhood. Volunteers are needed and very, very welcome!
Please note that this is a smoke-free venue, with a designated smoking area on the front porch. We ask that you leave your pets at home. We love doggies and sharks, but this is an event for humans.
COME SHARE THE FELLOWSHIP on May 9th, 2026! Relax and have some fun with people who perform because they love performing, and help THE CAYUGA STAGE get off to an auspicious start!
