$80In this class we will knit a miniature top down sock with a heel flap, and discuss other sock construction techniques along the way. After working through the mini practice sock, participants will have all the skills they need to tackle any other sock pattern they might want to make as well as a cute little sock ornament. This workshop we will cover stretchy cast on methods, short row vs. gusseted heels, invisible stripe joins, sock fit, kitchener stitch, gauge, how to choose yarn for your pattern and more. Please bring your sock questions and any particular patterns you might be interested in knitting.
Must have basic knitting skills and experience with knitting in the round is recommended.
Included: a copy of Emily's Favourite Socks (pictured), instructions for knitting the mini practice sock.
Participants should bring: 25g or more of DK weight yarn in one or more colours (if you want to play with stripes, bring as many colours as you like), 4mm or 4.5mm needles suitable to your preferred method of working in the round (either double pointed or 80 cm circular).
