Let's Go to Walthamstow

Exploring what Walthamstow has to offer and it's a lot from the very old to the present day and the longest market in town
About this Event

Walthamstow has some excellent murals and other street art. There are many places where we can stop and comment and share our thoughts and impressions. Old Walthamstow is particularly worthwhile visiting with its quiet streets, old village atmosphere and very old buildings to peek into. There is also a small museum there with local history information and displays. We won't have time for everything but we'll have a good go. However, we always allow for the unexpected so we might take a bit longer seeing what we do see.

If you are an early bird type with loads of energy, and if you like street markets, you may want to be in Walthamstow really early to visit the longest street market in Europe before coming to the gallery and meeting us for the walk. The market opens at 8am and if you you choose to do so, arrive in Walthamstow at St James Street station. It's a short walk to the High Street and you can see the whole market walking up to Hoe Street where you need to turn left to get to William Morris Gallery; or take a bus. Of course, there will be a variety of ethnic foods to choose from at the market and you may get tempted to have pie and mash or jellied eels at the legendary L. Manzie's in the High Street.

A few more things:

Please remember, that it will cost £18 exact cash to join on the day, depending on availability.

Pictures are taken during our walks and some of the walk may be recorded so please let us know if you do not want to be included.

As it is a walking tour, please make sure you wear suitable footwear and clothing.

You take part in our events at your own risk although we take all the precautions to assess the route prior to the walks.

If you can no longer attend please cancel your ticket or notify us so we could offer your place to someone else.

Please email us if you have any questions regarding the walk and check your mailbox before the walk.

Feel welcome to contact us to arrange a bespoke tour for your group.

We look forward to seeing you!
