Let's Get Pollinating Workshop 21st Jan A free, hands-on workshop supporting community groups to use simple wildflower activities to boost wellbeing and support pollinators.
About this Event

Let’s Get Pollinating is a free, hands-on workshop for Birmingham-based organisations who want to develop simple nature connection activities focused on wildflowers and pollinators.

The project is a follow-on from last year’s Let’s Get Potting, which explored nature connection for health and wellbeing. This spin-off focuses specifically on wildflower sowing and small-scale “pocket meadow” activities that can be delivered with service-users, even where outdoor space is limited. The project is delivered by Alison The Patchwork Meadow, in partnership with Natural England West Midlands, and funded by BUPA Foundation's Community Green Grants.

Why take part?

Birmingham’s green spaces are under pressure, but even small pockets of wildflowers can make a real difference — supporting pollinators, brightening local streets, and offering accessible ways for people to reconnect with nature. This project supports organisations who want to take small, practical steps that benefit both wellbeing and the local environment.

What the workshop includes
  • A short introduction to the project and its aims
  • Why wildflowers and pollinators matter for Birmingham's environment and people (led by Natural England species specialist)
  • Hands-on activities including bee trails, seed bomb making, and dry-clay seed pot making
  • Light refreshments provided
  • Time to plan a simple wildflower activity to run with your group (no outdoor space required)
  • The chance to meet and connect with like-minded organisations

What’s expected

One representative per organisation should attend one workshop. Participating organisations will be asked to run a simple seed-sowing or wildflower activity with their group in March or April 2026, using the free seeds and materials provided. Support will be given to design these too :)
