There are musicians who play old-time music, and there are musicians who’ve lived inside it for decades.Mike Compton learned directly from Bill Monroe himself, helped shape the soundtrack to O Brother, Where Art Thou?, and is regarded as one of the great mandolin players of his generation. Laura Boosinger has spent a lifetime carrying Appalachian song traditions across festival stages, workshops and concert rooms from North Carolina to Celtic Connections.
Together, as The Knackered Ramblers, they bring all of that history into something wonderfully unpretentious: glorious harmonies, dazzling playing, ancient ballads, mountain tunes, gospel songs and the kind of easy musical chemistry that only comes from years on the road.
Expect banjo, mandolin, stories, laughter and one of those nights where the whole room leans in.
