Legal Means to Hasten Death with an Emphasis on Voluntarily Stopping Eating and Drinking (VSED)

This 90-minute presentation is for anyone interested in learning more about the legal options for hastening death, primarily focusing on VSED

Presenter Trish Rux, Registered Nurse, End-Of-Life-Doula, VSED Specialized, will cover:

· A review of the current legal means of hastening death

· An in-depth look at VSED, its protocols and legal and ethical implications.

Participants will:

· Understand why someone might choose VSED to hasten end-of-life.

· Learn how to support someone choosing VSED and be prepared for the challenges that may arise in the process.

· Gain accurate information about VSED.

· Learn how to advocate for autonomy of choice at end-of-life.

Trish has been a nurse since 1982 with experience in many aspects of nursing, including hospice and palliative care. An end-of-life doula and educator, she serves as faculty for the Conscious Dying Collective and presents workshops on end-of-life planning and care. Trish manages the website, The Death Doula Collective: (deathdoulas.com [deathdoulas.com]) and is the co-author of Dying Matters: 8 Conversations That Can Change Your Life, available on Amazon https://amzn.to/4qCLWNd [amzn.to]. She brings profound experience and wisdom to the study and practice of death and dying, viewing her work with the dying as a sacred calling.
