Left right out: The strange position of the political Christian

A Biblical Ethics Workshop by the Centre for Christian Living.
As Christians, how interested and involved should we be in the political life of our society?
Some of us couldn’t be less interested in politics: we ignore it as much as we possibly can and try to just get on with what we see as the important aspects of living the Christian life and ministering to others. Others of us are really much more interested in politics: we dive right into the online debates, we keep ourselves informed, and we think that Christians have a real contribution to make politically.
Which of these two approaches is the more faithful Christian approach? Or is it somewhere between the two? Also why is it that, as Christians, when we do get involved in politics in some way and we try to engage in the debate, we often feel we don’t fit in? We’re not quite Left; we’re not quite Right; we’re kind of both and neither at the same time. Christians often feel marginal in the political life of our society and wonder where we fit.
When: Wednesday 20 May 2026, 7:00 – 9:00pm
Cost: Individual Tickets: $15. Group Tickets: $12.50 per person when you book for 4 or more people.
You might have noticed that we now have a modest ticket price for our CCL events. We thought this was the simplest and best way to help cover some of the basic costs of running the evening. We don’t want this ticket charge to be a barrier to anyone attending the event — please get in touch with us if this is your situation.
Due to the interactive nature of this event, it will not be livestreamed. However, portions of the event will be recorded and included in future episodes of the CCL podcast that will further explore this topic.
