In this mostly jargon-free lecture, you’ll explore what such a theory would actually mean, why it has proven so elusive, and how revolutionary ideas like relativity and quantum mechanics already shape the technology and experiences we take for granted every day.
By linking the behavior of the extremely small with the structure of the unimaginably large, Dr. Silverman shows how we, right in the middle, gain a clearer picture of why the universe looks and behaves the way it does.
Dr. Julian R. Silverman is an Assistant Professor at the Fashion Institute of Technology with a background in chemistry and materials science. His work explores the science and history of everyday materials and the chemicals that surround us. When not exploring library archives around the world, he brings science to life through public demonstrations across New York City.
