🧠Lecture: "The History of Disney"
🎤 Speaker: Professor Isabella Tecson
It all started with a mouse—but how did this modest animation studio transform into the global titan of entertainment we know today? Join us for a magical evening as Professor Isabella Tecson traces the evolution of Disney, from its scrappy beginnings to its status as a cultural powerhouse shaping how the world dreams, plays, and watches stories unfold.
We’ll explore Disney’s complex relationship with the entertainment industry, its storytelling innovations, and the carefully crafted “magic” that keeps audiences enchanted across generations. From fairy tales and theme parks to blockbusters and brand empires, discover how Disney changed the way we think about fantasy, nostalgia, and corporate storytelling.
Professor Isabella Tecson is an adjunct screenwriting, creative writing, and English professor at Queens College and CCNY, and a creative nonfiction MFA candidate. A former film critic for Asian Cinevue and a working script doctor for nearly a decade, she has helped shape numerous documentaries and indie films with her “structure first, ego’s later” approach. She brings sharp insight, a theatre-kid sense of humor, and a deep love of movies to this lively, engaging lecture.
