An introduction to 'Lewis Deep Democracy', a method for making effective decisions, dealing with conflict and enabling inclusiveness
About this Event

Funded as the Birmingham and Solihull Local Delivery Pilot (LDP) by Sport England since 2018, the ‘Active Communities’ programme has worked across six of the most deprived areas in Birmingham and Solihull to tackle the barriers to getting active. The aim of the programme was to pilot interventions that tested an approach to increasing physical activity in those communities, as these are statistically communities most likely to be least active. In addition to testing interventions around getting communities experiencing poverty or deprivation more active, the LDP innovation set out to determine if there was a link between being more physically and more civically active. Part of the aspiration of the programme was to provide opportunities for the people and communities that have traditionally been left behind and help to remove the barriers to physical and civic activity by working together to co-create solutions in a place. The work intended to build on learning done to date in the pilot and demonstrate scalability in any of the positive results.

In this interactive 2 -day workshop, known as the 'CoResolve - Deep Democracy Leadership Program', you will receive an introduction to 'Lewis Deep Democracy', facilitated by Payam Yuce Isik.

CoResolve is for leaders, managers and professionals who find themselves working with interpersonal, team and client dynamics. Based on the foundation of Lewis Deep Democracy, this course gives leaders the theoretical background and experiential learning opportunities that they need to begin using the powerful tools of the Lewis Deep Democracy in their day-to-day work environments.

CoResolve training increases leaders’ capacity to succeed in leading complex social systems by helping them to understand group dynamics and by offering practical tools for working with differences in a group, making effective decisions and by increasing their conflict literacy to turn destructive conflict into creative tension.

W hat is Deep Democracy?

Lewis Deep Democracy is a cutting edge facilitation, participative leadership, decision making and conflict transformation methodology that is pragmatic, easily acquired and can be applied into a wide range of situations.

The tools and methods of Lewis Deep Democracy enables every voice is heard, valued and taken into consideration, including the minority voice. It goes far beyond the conventional methods of participatory processes that enable the exchange of ideas, and instead surfaces emotions, values and beliefs to inform and enrich the group’s process. It provides tools and perspectives to manage diversity and complexity

This course consists of 2 consecutive days, with each starting at 09:00 and finishing by 17:00.

Lunch will be provided on both days by The Big Feed, with refreshments available throughout.
