About this Event
Join textile designer Ashanti Farquhar for this 4 hour weaving workshop and create your own unique woven fabric to take home.
London can be a fast-paced city and the therapeutic and repetitive nature of weaving can help us to be mindful and present. Spend an afternoon and discover the art of the frame loom and the creative, therapeutic possibilities of this traditional craft.
During the class you will learn how to set up a frame loom, the difference between weft and warp, basic weave techniques as well as different yarn fibres. Perfect for making gifts for family and friends, or even yourself.
All are welcome and this workshop is perfect for beginners.
Ashanti will guide you every step of the way, from yarn choice to taking it off the loom. She will support you throughout the class offering expert advice and knowlege.
Everything you need will be provided, however for a more personal touch you can bring your own scraps of material. Ashanti will also provide information sheets which you can take home.
You will gain key knowledge and understanding of hand-woven fabric and leave feeling calm and accomplished for making your own fabric from scratch.
