About this Event
In visions of our lives now and in the future, we hope for and create the room to be ourselves with one another, however we choose to. The capacity to clothe ourselves and our communities, offers us a new form of care and self-determination.
Join us in the PLACE Makery for a sewing class for confident beginners. Confident beginners means you know how to thread the machine and sew basic straight seams. The rest, I'll teach you!
In this 3 hour class, you’ll learn deepen your knowledge of machine sewing and learn the basics of garment construction. We'll go over how to read and cut patterns, and how to sew up a pair of pants or shorts! This includes learning curved seams, elastic waistbands, and hems. All students will walk away with a toile of pants/shorts and a pattern to take home. Sewing machines and materials are provided.
Before attending the class, students must submit their waist and hip size (in inches) so that the instructor can prepare the patterns and fabric accordingly!
This course will use all donated and recycled materials, offering us the opportunity to create new life from what we already have. With the intention of gentle and attentive instruction, all classes are capped at 6 students.
All participants are asked to mask the entirety of the class. We consider COVID safety our priority, and require all students to wear high filtration masks through the entirety of the class. Masks are provided, if you don't have them! We run an air purifier as well.
