About this Event
Discover the sculptural beauty of stumpwork embroidery in this hands-on workshop designed for curious beginners and adventurous stitchers alike. Stumpwork is a raised embroidery technique that transforms thread and fabric into dimensional works of art — petals that lift, wings that hover, and textures you can almost feel.
In this guided session, you’ll learn the foundational techniques that bring stumpwork to life, including padding, wire slips and layering stitches to create depth and structure. Step by step, you’ll build a small dimensional motif while exploring how color, texture and stitch choice influence the final piece.
Along the way, we’ll cover essential tools, materials and finishing methods so you can confidently continue experimenting at home. Expect a relaxed, supportive environment where creativity is encouraged and questions are always welcome.
By the end of the workshop, you’ll leave with a completed (or nearly completed….everyone is encouraged to work at their own pace) miniature stumpwork design, practical skills and the inspiration to keep exploring this rich and expressive embroidery tradition.
All supplies are included.
