About this Event
In this class, attendees will learn how to use a table saw using our SawStop cabinet saw. We’ll start by breaking down the parts of a table saw, why they’re important, and how they work, followed by a thorough safety briefing discussing the major do’s and don’ts of table saw usage. After that, we’ll get hands-on: the instructor will explain how to use our SawStop cabinet saw and demonstrate common table saw cuts, including crosscuts, rip cuts, and miter cuts. After each demonstration cut, students will have an opportunity to practice that cut under the watchful eye of the instructor. Finally, time permitting, the instructor will discuss and demonstrate more advanced table saw techniques, including dadoes, rabbets, bevels, working with large sheet goods, and using jigs to assist with more complex cuts.
By the end of the class, students should have a basic understanding of how to use any table saw safely for the most common cuts and techniques in woodworking projects and will be certified to use the table saw at our makerspace during our open shop hours.
