About this Event
In her lecture, Law, Leadership and Legacy, Dr. I. Stephanie Boyce will reflect on her personal journey from a low income, first generation British household on a council estate to becoming a nationally recognised leader in law, governance and public service.
Drawing on the transformative power of education, social mobility and representation, she examines the structural inequalities that persist in the legal profession and society, and the work she has led to widen access to justice, strengthen inclusive leadership, and build a profession that better reflects the communities it serves. She highlights the deeply concerning erosion of the rule of law, from chronic underinvestment in the justice system to proposals to remove jury trials and warns that democracy and constitutional rights can weaken not in dramatic moments, but through steady neglect.
