About this Event
Join us in the ballroom at the Bedford in Balham to celebrate the third collection by award-winning writer, Tessa Foley.
Guest readers include Glyn Maxwell.
All are welcome. Join us from 6pm, with a reading at 6.30pm.
Tessa Foley’s debut poetry collection Chalet Between Thick Ears, and follow-up collection What Sort of Bird are You? are published by Live Canon. Her poems explore dark and bright spaces within childhood, relationships, nature, and politics. Her voice takes in class, gender, and psychological perspectives, threaded together with a wild and playful love of language.
She has performed her poetry across the Uk and taught as a university lecturer of performance poetry, as a leader of therapeutic poetry-writing groups, and as a facilitator of poetry performance workshops.
She wrote and published a fundraising poetry collection for a rape and abuse counselling charity, with which she previously volunteered.
She has recently been recognised in the Artemesia Arts Competition, Waltham Forest Poetry Prize, and the Bournemouth Writing Festival Competition and has been featured in publications such as Agenda, Finished Creatures, Alchemy Spoon, Black Iris, and Crank Mag.
You can find more of her work at www.tessafoley.com or on Instagram @tessafoleypoet
