About this Event
In the industrial atmosphere of Kelham Island Museum, you’ll learn about early printing techniques, the complex art of designing typefaces and Sheffield’s important but little-known role in the print industry. The event is inspired by Stephenson, Blake and Co., a Sheffield type foundry that came from modest beginnings in 1818 to become the largest supplier of metal type for printing in the UK, with customers across the world. Combining artful typeface and highly skilled metal manufacturing, the foundry produced many of the fonts we see every day on our screens and in print.
The event will feature a variety of demonstrations, hands-on activities, longer workshops and a pay bar. Whether you’re a graphic design aficionado, a local history enthusiast or just keen to try something new, Late: To the Letter will offer a fun, interactive and alternative evening out at the museum. Reserve your spot today with a suggested donation of £5.
Further details of the activities offered is coming soon. Admission is for over 18s only.
