Hosted by the beloved Guy Montgomery (Fred Award winner, Logie winner, and the mastermind behind Guy Montgomery's Guy Mont-Spelling Bee), Last Laughs is the Festival’s final night out – where the stakes are high, the room is buzzing, and the big moments happen in real time.
It’s also your last chance to see this year’s nominees do their thing in the same room, one after the other: the five Billy T nominees hit the stage for their final Festival sets, then we meet the three Fred Award finalists (revealed only around 48 hours beforehand) and see why their shows have risen to the top. While the judges deliberate, a secret headliner takes over, before we present the Billy T Award and The Fred Award live on the night.
The Billy T Award winner takes home the iconic yellow towel plus a cash prize, and the Fred Award winner scores the legendary gumboot trophy (and a cash prize too) – and this year The Fred turns 20!
Last Laughs: Awards Gala is a night for audiences too. This is your chance to rub shoulders with your favourite comedians, catch the live reactions, and be in on all the laughs.
