Step behind the scenes of history at our private photography event in the abandoned Infectious Disease Hospital on Ellis Island, an eerie and fascinating site closed since 1954.
This exclusive class offers special access to the measles ward, the psychiatric ward, the morgue, operating rooms, the second floor and areas normally closed to the public. Our private tour makes it possible for you to bring tripods, small lights, and other equipment to capture details of this decaying landmark. During the day, we’ll learn advanced techniques for capturing the decay, light, and unique textures of the site with hands-on tips for shooting in low-light conditions and working with long exposures and bracketing.
As an added bonus, an Ellis Island guide will provide us with a deeper understanding of the immigrant experience and the hospital’s role in Ellis Island’s history.
