Language Café

We’re opening the café for a cozy little space for learning and conversation, creating spaces within spaces where you can practice language at any level without feeling watched, rushed, or loud.

This is a place to practice, not perform! Reach for words you don't quite have yet. Ask where the bathroom is in a language you're still learning. Order a tea in something unfamiliar. There's no grades or failure-- dedicated volunteers are present to meet folks halfway.

We'll have dedicated Asylum folks for the following languages:
Spanish, Mandarin, Cantonese, French, and ASL

Drift between conversations or stay in one, listen more than you speak or speak more than you planned to. All levels welcome, and all awkwardness (and fun, and learning) expected.
