About this Event
Join Langdyke and Natural England for a guided walk at Castor Hanglands National Nature Reserve. This is a fantastic opportunity to meet with Langdyke friends old and new and a chance to learn about and hopefully hear the unrivalled song of one of our most secretive summer visitors, the Nightingale.
Castor Hanglands is perhaps the nightingale’s most northerly stronghold in the country. And despite its catastrophic decline nationally, the population at the Hanglands remains vibrant with over 30 singing males there in recent years. On this walk we will not only hear the nightingales sing, but also check out the bats overhead, the newts in the pond and maybe hear a deer or two in the background! Suitable for all ages, but dress up warm and be prepared for some mud!”
We will have opportunities also to listen out for bats, newts and other nocturnal animals.
