The afternoon begins with a lamp-lighting ceremony in the courtyard of Shree Sumer School, the Public Arts Trust of India’s Jodhpur HQ, marking a symbolic opening to the Jodhpur Arts Week Edition 1.0.
We are honoured to welcome Mr. Utsah Chaudhary, Hon. Commissioner, Jodhpur Development Authority; Mr. Siddharth Palanichamy, Hon. Commissioner, Nagar Nigam Jodhpur; Mr. Irfan Razack, Chairman & Managing Director; and Trustees of PATI Dr. Rezwan Razack, Joint Managing Director, Prestige Group;
Mr. Faiz Rezwan, Executive Director, Prestige Group; Mrs. Almas Rezwan along with Sana Rezwan, Founding Chairwoman, Public Arts Trust of India; Emma Sumner, Director, Public Arts Trust of India, for this special occasion.
Enjoy light refreshments and informal conversations with participating artists, artisans, designers, PATI x LAND Teaching Fellows, school children and curators. You are also invited to engage in hands-on workshops, including toran painting with Than Chand Mehra, and lac bangle making led by Master Artisan Deen Mohammad Munawar Ali Manihar, learning about their traditional craft and the living knowledge they carry forward.
Take a stroll to Sun City, and explore Raw Mango’s take on the traditional leheriya dyeing technique offering a fresh take on Rajasthan’s vibrant textile heritage and Saruha Kilaru new body of glassworks inspired by the ecology of the Thar Desert, sacred waterbodies and the forgotten history of Gulab Rai.
There will also be opportunities to visit the Public Arts Trust of India Artist Residency, the House of Premchand, a fourth-generation Marwari Haveli, which has been thoughtfully repurposed, to host artists.
