About this Event
The evening unfolds at the historic Toorji Ka Jhalra with a vibrant live performance by the Kalbeliya community of Jodhpur, a nomadic tribe renowned for their serpentine dance and soulful folk music, honoured by UNESCO as an Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity. Audiences will also have the opportunity to engage with artists and designers presenting site-specific works at the stepwell, transforming the venue into a space of dialogue between tradition and contemporary art. Artist Aku Zeliang presents an evocative installation inspired by Nagaland’s Huh-Tuh basketry traditions, created in collaboration with master cane weaver Nasir Muhammad and Jodhpur-based metalworker Gulam Mohammad. British artist Chila Kumari Singh Burman | Supported by British Council unveils her first site-specific commission in India, crafted with local neon artisan Abid Shah, reimagining the stepwell’s architecture through vivid colour, light, and layered iconography. Together, these works honour heritage while reinterpreting material and memory through a contemporary lens.
